Quartz (Var: Amethyst)

Locality: Mt Gee, Arkaroola Region (Arkaroola Station), North Flinders Ranges, Flinders Ranges, South Australia, Australia

Note: The mineral species Amethyst is not listed in our database for this locality. This specimen may be misidentified or the mindat list of minerals at this locality may be incomplete.

Collected in approx 1993, this cluster of Amethyst was found in an exposed vugh on the surface of Mt.Gee, along with some larger clusters up to 15cm in size. Although not extremely lustrous, these specimen are regarded are quite rare for this locality and are highly sought after by collectors to the area.
