View of the Kalkspat-Lücke from Rotwichel mountain. The Kalkspat-Lücke (named after the frequent occurrence of calcite) is made of greenish-gray "Giuv syenite" that is cut by numerous bright aplitic dikes. To the right is the first of the Giuvstöckli peaks, mostly made of brown (probably mylonitic) shists. To the extreme right the rock turns into Giuv syenite again. Giuv glacier below.
Just above the center of the photo you can see a tiny turqoise colored spot. It is the jacket of a strahler at work on an alpine-type fissure ("Kluft"). This spot is very rich in fissures, and there are about a dozen exploited fissures visible on the photo, and many more are hidden or buried under rubble. All much easier to see in the high res version of the photo (link visible when logged in).

The field of view is about 180 x 120 meter. August 2012.
