Major, superb Elmwood pieces such as this, in great condition, are just vanishingly rare now, since the closing of the mine and the grabbing of available specimens that followed it. Most are holding on to pieces like this with the expectation of their rising much further in value. After all, Elmood calcites are among the world’s most beautiful, certainly, even if their good availability caused them to be taken for granted more than they should have (like Illinois fluorites, for example). This compound crystal is not only huge, but it has a whole SERIES of sharp terminations on the display end. More importantly, considering that 90% of large calcites from the Elmwood have tip damage, this specimen is in amazing condition. You have to really look to find a tiny bit of wear on a couple of the terminations! And, look at the stunning form of the crystal and attached matrix, really just about perfect for dramatic display quality. Wow! We will provide a custom lucite base for this specimen. 22 x 14 x 7.5 cm
