Winchite, Sodalite (Var: Hackmanite)

Locality: Koksha Valley (Kokscha Valley; Kokcha Valley), Khash & Kuran Wa Munjan Districts, Badakhshan Province (Badakshan Province; Badahsan Province), Afghanistan

A mass of bladed white winchite and massive crystalline sodalite var. hackmanite. There are two areas of hackmanite in this rock, one area is 3cm X 3cm, the other 2.2cm X 2.2cm. There is one perfect 5mm terminated crystal at the top of the specimen.The natural colour is a pale purple - more intense in daylight. In UV light the thing becomes a bright fire orange and phosphoresces strongly when light is removed.Listed on eBay 24 August 2002- Reserve Price = $40 - Item Ref: 2134421623.
