Beryl (Var: Morganite) : Be3Al2Si6O18

A most unusual thumbnail, this morganite crystal has a lovely rose color and a tabular rosette-like form, and it comes from a source more famous for rubies and spinels than beryls. When viewed from the side, the crystal exhibits color-zoning, with the more intense pink occurring at the terminations. Overall dimensions are 14 x 6 x 12 mm. Collection of J. Baimel.
