Locality: Pala Chief Mine (Chief mine; MS 6452; Salmons mine), Chief Mountain, Pala, Pala District, San Diego Co., California, USA
A striated trigonal elbaite, 5.5 cm tall, with a simple pedion termination, growing out of a mound of cleavelandite. The tourmaline has a schorl core, changing to pale pink, then to teal blue, with a thin purple layer at the termination.
