Locality: Faywood Mine, Jose District, Cooks Peak District (Cooke's Peak District), Luna Co., New Mexico, USA

Well formed quartz pseudomorphs after scalenohedral calcite to 25 mm. The quartz formed over the calcite first, then the calcite dissolved away naturally leaving a thin pseudomorph. Two have the tip broken to expose the thin structure. Overall size of mineral specimen: 8x6x2 cm. Size of individual crystals: 5-25 mm.
