Locality: Cave-in-Rock, Cave-in-Rock Sub-District, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA

Dark purple fluorite crystals up to 3 cm in a parallel formation. The crystal surfaces have an unusual black resinous coating that looks like fluorite until viewed with backlighting. Originally acquired in 1969. Ex. Dr. E. Sensel collection #G789. Overall size of mineral specimen: 10x8x4 cm. Size of individual crystals: 1-3 cm.
