Coquandite : Sb6[O8|SO4] · H2O

Photo Copyright © Saul Krotki 2007  - This image is copyrighted. Unauthorized reproduction prohibited.
Coquandite from Lucky Knock Mine, the US Type Locality, forms as masses of silky white threads between stibnite crystals which are partially altered to stibiconite. Some of the threads also extend into flat toothpick like crystals with steeply truncated terminations. This is a close view which emphasizes that relationship. Collected by Elwin A. Magill, mine owner in the 1960's. Specimen for this photograph was provided by Bart Cannon. Photomicrograph © Saul Krotki 2007 (.0816.4). Field of view 1.5 mm wide. Krotki Micromount Collection.
