Following the reorganisation of 1996, the Unitary Authority of Cardiff was formed from parts of the administrative counties of South Glamorgan and Mid Glamorgan.
South and Mid Glamorgan were themselves only formed during the 1974 administrative reorganisation, being sub-divisions of the traditional county of Glamorgam that dates back to the middle ages.
Specimens from locations listed here may be labelled as Cardiff, Mid Glamorgan or Glamorgan depending upon the period that they were collected.
