Regional Report: Nisyros Island (Nisiros), Dodecanese Islands, Dodekánisos (Dodekánissa) Prefecture, South Aegean Department, Greece

Volcanic island situated S of the island of Kos. The volcano is currently active (not erupting), and several active fumaroles are found at the craters. The main crater is the spectacular Stefanos crater. The latest eruptive activity was a steam explosion in 1888, after small ash eruptions in 1871 and 1873
