Regional Report: Otome mine (Mitake mine; Kurasawa mine), Yamanashi prefecture, Chubu region, Honshu Island, Japan

High temperature veins mined since ancient times. Famous for its Japan-law quartz twinning (the original "Japan-law" locality). Old quartz specimens from here often bear the obsolete province name "Kai". In reality a group of many mines spread over several villages and mountain slopes.
