Regional Report: Tuften (Tuften 1 Quarry; Tuften 2 Quarry), Tvedalen, Larvik, Vestfold, Norway

One of the major areas for larvikite quarries in Tvedalen, and in the central Tvedalen area. The first quarry on this hill was Svensken, but then during the years more quarries have been opened and older ones have changed names, often making an exact locality determination of this quarry complex pretty difficult. At the moment the names of the quarries in this complex is A/S Granit and Tuften. Larvikite is an alkali syenite rich in labradorescent feldspar, used as facing stone. The alleged new minerals UK-7 and UK-10 have been found in Tuften quarry.
