About Hydronephelite
Colour:
Usually white, may be stained pink to red brown.
Name:
From being a water-rich alteration product of sodalite that had replaced nepheline.
First Recorded Locality:
The type location is Dennis Hill, Litchfield, Maine, USA. Described by Clarke (1886), but later determined to be a mixture of natrolite, "epinatrolite", "hydrargillite" and gibbsite by Thugutt (1910). Probably dominantly natrolite (~80%). Formed by alteration of nepheline (Norway and Paraguay) or sodalite (Maine).
Compare also Spreustein.
