Perthite

Name:Named for the nearby city of Perth in Ontario. The type locality is 6 miles (approx 9.5 km) southwest of Perth.


An intergrowth of albite or other plagioclase and orthoclase or microcline. The intergrowths or exsolution lamellae are visible as white lines coursing through the K feldspar groundmass.
Common in pegmatites.
Originally described from North Burgess, Drummond Township, Lanark Co., Ontario, Canada.
