Synchysite-(Ce)
Petersberg Quarry, Petersberg, Halle, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany
© 2008 Dominik Schläfli
| Name: | From the Greek σύγχΰσις "synchys" for "confounding" in allusion to its initially being mistaken for parisite. | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| Synchysite-(Ce), Synchysite-(Nd), Synchysite-(Y) | |||
The name applied to what was believed to be the cerium-dominant species (see Palache et al., Dana 7th ed., vol. II, 287), but was later determined to be Synchysite-(Y).
The very rare neodymium analogue Synchysite-(Nd) was approved in the late 1970s.
The cerium analogue Synchysite-(Ce) was not submitted until 1982 (IMA1982-030).
