Name:
Named in honor of Silvia Hillebrand (née Tschermak) (1868–1923), bacteriologist and daughter of the Austrian mineralogist Gustav Tschermak von Sessenegg. The name was first suggested in 1914 for the then-hypothetical sulphate analogue of meionite. The mineral tschermakite is named after her father.
Sulphate-dominant member of the Scapolite Group.
