End of the Line

Arrowhead Mine (Leatherhead Mine), Mt Ida, Montgomery Co., Arkansas, USA

During the second week of August 2011, this gate blocked entrance to the mine site. Repeated calls to the phone number listed on the sign were fruitless.

Motley Pocket

Arrowhead Mine (Leatherhead Mine), Mt Ida, Montgomery Co., Arkansas, USA

Motley pocket, socalled because of the mix of red and grey clay. These pockets tend to be fractured due to slips and shifts, and most crystals and clusters are floaters. However, quartz tends to be very clear from these types of pockets. Photo taken 10.14.2006 during annual quartz dig.
