"Cape May Diamonds" at Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach, Cape May, Lower Township, Cape May Co., New Jersey, USA

This was taken August 23rd, 2007 while we were filming in New Jersey. I got some really beautiful pictures from this location. Quartz pebbles are all the way down the beach, just look for the gravel bars that are washed onto the beach by the tide.

Stirling Brook ("Carnelian Creek"), Warren Township, Somerset Co., New Jersey, USA

This was taken August 18th, 2007 after Rob Lavinsky's luncheon showing in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. There we met Steven Kuitems DMD, and his son. He offered to take us to this location and show us how it's done.

A view of two of the four large stone lime kilns off limekiln road, Hamburg, NJ, including the only one with a surviving brick chimney. Abandoned Quarry

Lockwood, Byram Township, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA

This site lies off the mule road which was the predecessor road to the Sussex Branch RR. Near the South shore of Cranberry Lake. Minerals found during an extensive search/dig correspond to those listed on the locality page.

9/22/09-I have just reviewed a map from 1944 which indicates that at one time, this area was mined for Mica.

Adit

Pahaquarry mines, Calno, Pahaquarry Township, Warren Co., New Jersey, USA

The Pahaquarry Mines are best known for the two adits that were once open and great fun to explore. These adits are now closed to protect the bat population which has been decimated by White Nose Syndrome.

This picture is of the lower adit.

Adit

Pahaquarry mines, Calno, Pahaquarry Township, Warren Co., New Jersey, USA

A view of the upper adit. Many folks just know about the two adits, but there are other workings to be seen.

Adit

Pahaquarry mines, Calno, Pahaquarry Township, Warren Co., New Jersey, USA

I've been visiting this area since the early seventies and this adit has always been filled with water. On my visit in October of 2009, there was little or no water present.
