HASN'T BEEN ANY PARKING HERE IN A WHILE !!

Parking on Hatch Rd. is almost non existent. Although the City of Auburn discourages use of the right-of-way, it is located directly across the street from this sign.

The City of Auburn has owned Mt. Apatite Park since the 1970's which also includes Greenlaw, Smith and Turner Quarries. The Parks Dept. allows collecting with hand tools only, along with other general guidelines.

Winter at Maine Feldspar Quarry

Maine Feldspar Quarry, Mt. Apatite District, Auburn, Androscoggin Co., Maine, USA

Ice Falls at the Maine Feldspar quarry which is now owned by the City of Auburn. The Maine Feldspar Co. operated the mine from 1902 to October 1929 and is relatively unchanged. Photo shows the pegmatite lens in the "country rock" of schist. Taken by Dan Levesque March 7, 2009.
