Aranga Quarry (Stone's Quarry; Hood Road Quarry), Aranga, Kaipara, Northland, North Island, New Zealand Aranga quarry is sited in a single flow of an augite-olivine basalt which has been intruded by thin (less than 2 metre wide) feeder dikes of basalt. The rock which is bright red in colour has been highly oxidised. Photo taken by Mathew Singleton in September 2007. |
