Entrance hidden in the woods

This is the entrance of the famous La Treille mine.
A huge system of galleries and stopes lies behind that barrel.

This is a interresant view of a XVIth century galery reworked in the 18th and 19th century. The left side is XVIth (see vertical marks on the wall and the start of the ogival form) but the rigth side is reworked with explosives powders. This galery is a pumping out galery too.

XVIth century front in Gabe Gottes Mine

This is a very nice front for this period, located near the 40 meters shaft in Gabe Gottes mine. This galery is 1.40m hight and we can see the maks on the wall and the front.
In the XVIe century the miners increased by ten meters per year on average but here they were into a gneiss rock.

Tis reconstitution is visible into a XVIth century galery near the principal galery reworked in the 18 or 19th century. The Archeomine association organize the visit during the Sainte Marie aux Mines show.
