Fee Dig Area at the Oceanview Mine

Oceanview Mine (MS 6452; MS 6848; Ocean View), Chief Mountain, Pala District, San Diego Co., California, USA

This is the fee dig area set up at the Oceanview Mine. Guests are provided buckets, shovels, screens and tubs to search through a large pile of tailings from both the Oceanview Mine and the nearby Elizabeth R. Mine. Elbaite, morganite, kunzite, schorl and quartz points are commonly recovered.

The Oceanview Donkey

Oceanview Mine (MS 6452; MS 6848; Ocean View), Chief Mountain, Pala District, San Diego Co., California, USA

This is the only mine I have ever been to that had a resident donkey. He is not used to haul rock – but is a pet, who roams around the property and checks out what the fee diggers are up to.
