Pillow Lava Zeolite locality, Meriden, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA

Close-up of one of the basalt pillows. The glassy, quenched rind of the pillows is quite evident. The interpillow matrix is composed of hyaloclastite cemented by calcite. The pillow is probably around 0.5 - 0.75 m wide. Photo taken November 15, 2009.

Paleochannel in the Talcott Basalt looking north from Target. This section is not as "pillowy" as the exposure immediately behind Target, but a large pillow (prob ~2 m) can be seen just above the base of the channel. Photo taken November 15, 2009.
