Cavities in a block

Foucault Quarry, Brownsburg-Chatham, Argenteuil RCM, Laurentides, Québec, Canada

This picture was taken November 15th, 2011.

Further to a large blast, dozens of small blocks such as this one were scattered all around the surface of the blast pile. The crowbar in this picture is only 40 cm (16 inch) long, so the rock specimen is around that size.

It shows multiple cavities, the largest on at bottom left showing a broken pale green fluorite crystal, and (barely visible) millimeter-sized quartz crystals.

The cavity at right contains two corroded pyrite hemispheres.
