Heftetjern pegmatite, Tørdal, Drangedal, Telemark, Norway

This photo show the most accessible part of the Heftetjern pegmatite. Most of the dumps after an exploration blast some years ago are still available for collectors. There are still excellent possibilities to collect many of the interesting minerals found here.

View of a part of the amazonite pegmatite

Heftetjern pegmatite, Tørdal, Drangedal, Telemark, Norway

The Heftetjern pegmatite is one of many pegmatites in the area. The veins consist of reddish microcline, albite and quartz, and contain locally bodies of cleavelandite-amazonite pegmatite. Here a well-developed crystal of the microcline-feldspar variety amazonite is shown.
