EDE-2EJFluorite CaF2 , Galena PbS
Burtree Slits, Cowshill, Stanhope, County Durham, England, UKField of View: 20 mm
A line of wonderfully twinned (very light Purple) Fluorite crystals overlooked by a near perfect crystal of Galena, from one of the lesser known locations in the Weardale region of Northern England. Specimen and Photograph M. Willoughby.
Sedling Vein

M68-J3RFluorite CaF2 , Goethite α-Fe3+O(OH)
Burtree Slits, Cowshill, Stanhope, County Durham, England, UKDimensions: 52 mm x 40 mm x 24 mm
Largest Crystal Size: 5.0 mm
MORPHOLOGY: Twinned
COLOUR: Colourless (purple phantoms)
A cavity in the ironstone matrix is lined with decomposed Siderite crystals (Goethite). Settled on top is a group of transparent interpenetrating Fluorite crystals. The crystals appear colourless when viewed straight on but appear a slight purple colour when the crystal face is viewed from the underside, due to the presence of a purple 'phantom' layer.
K7K-C1DFluorite CaF2
Burtree Slits, Cowshill, Stanhope, County Durham, England, UKDimensions: 38 mm x 20 mm x 23 mm
Largest Crystal Size: 5.5 mm
MORPHOLOGY: Penetration twins, glassy
COLOUR: Purple (pale)
Scrap of matrix with several gemmy penetration twins of purple Fluorite perched attractively on top (Note: minor 'nick' to one of the main crystals)
DYH-1TEFluorite CaF2 , Goethite α-Fe3+O(OH)
Burtree Slits, Cowshill, Stanhope, County Durham, England, UKDimensions: 46 mm x 35 mm x 18 mm
Largest Crystal Size: 6.5 mm
MORPHOLOGY: Cubic, intergrown
COLOUR: Yellow
A vug in this 'limonitic' matrix is lined with black oxidized Siderite on which several cubic yellow crystals of Fluorite have grown. Some crystals are intergrown but no evidence of twinning.

Burtree Slits, Cowshill, Stanhope, County Durham, England, UKDimensions: 80 mm x 78 mm x 46 mm
Largest Crystal Size: 9 mm
A large cavity in ironstone lined with lustrous, purple fluorite to 9mm.
