Blue Circle Cement Quarry, Eastgate, Weardale, North Pennines, Co. Durham, England, UK

A unusually large single twinned cube of glassy blue green fluorite with purple centre zone and lighter purple edge zone. Crystal has some natural etching at base and on one face - also one one edge. Nevertheless it is a great piece.Blue Circle or Eastgate quarry is due to close this year. It is also understood that the outcrop of this fluorite has now been buried.

Single twinned crystal of gemmy green fluorite with deep purplish zoning.Collected in 2002 prior to the closure of the quarry. The collection site has now been buried in several thousand tons of rock.Sold on eBay 19 June.

A large (for the locality) matrix free single twinned cube of dark blue green fluorite with a purple core. The crystal display faces and edges are virtually perfect and show beautiful natural growth geometry and slightly bevelled edges. The back of the crystal has cleaved from the matrix.

Dimensions: 10 cm x 8 cm x 5 cm

A cluster of gemmy, honey-yellow twinned fluorite crystals up to 2.3 cm on edge, covering one face of an ironstone matrix. The fluorite crystals are transparent but lightly etched. 10x8x5 cm overall size. Specimen collected from the quarry in May 2002.
