Wallace Stone Company Quarry (Wallace Quarry; Bayport Quarry), Pigeon, Huron Co., Michigan, USA This is the quarry wall out of which the new find of Millerites was recovered. The wall is about 10 ft high, the Millerite zone was about 2 ft from the quarry floor. This area is referred to as the first pit. The entire quarry is only about 20 ft deep, but is very extensive- about 2 miles long. Taken in December 2009. |

Wallace Stone Company Quarry (Wallace Quarry; Bayport Quarry), Pigeon, Huron Co., Michigan, USA A boulder from the bottom most bed of the Bayport Limestone, looking down at the top surface, which is coated with black bitumen, in which can be seen rounded, knobby Quartz nodules, some of which contain the excellent Millerites that were found earlier this year. It appears that this zone has now pinched out in the direction of quarrying, but ... |
