A part of the main quarry - 2005

Herrebøkasa, Aspedammen, Idd, Halden, Østfold, Norway

For some weeks during the summer of 2005, collectors could enter the quarry and dig in the old dumps - normally laying inaccessable under water. After a couple of months the water level was back to normal.

In these druses, crystal filled pockets of smokey quartz were found. Good specimens of fluorite, albite (var: cleavelandite) and muscovite also came out. Som collectors spent a lot of time trying to empty the pockets before the water again filled the quarry.

In 2005 the water level of the main quarry was very low after most of the water had been used by firefighters to stop a fire in the forest nearby. This gave collectors the opportunity to enter parts of the quarry that had been under water for decades.
