The entrance into the big, open pit of Ruggles Mine is through a downward sloping tunnel. Around the rear wall are some exposed adits from earlier mining. It's an impressive hole when standing in the floor looking up. Photo taken August 2004.

This is from the southwest corner of Ruggles Mine, just below the old, exposed adits (see entrance photo). The entrance tunnel is the point of light at the end of the dark tunnel. Photo taken August 2004 (when the collecting fee was substantially less!).
