\'Finger\' spoil tips

Hooten Wheals (Hexworthy Mine), Two Bridges, Southern Dartmoor, Dartmoor & Teign Valley District, Devon, England, UK

3 tips. The 2 on the right are just tips. The one on the left clearly has a tram track running along the top of it, the depressions where the rails sat are clearly visible in a low early morning light. 1905 Processing Plant

Hooten Wheals (Hexworthy Mine), Two Bridges, Southern Dartmoor, Dartmoor & Teign Valley District, Devon, England, UK

An early morning photo picking out some of the details. Buddles in the foreground, first level for jigging tables, top level for stamps. The bolts in the floor of the top level for fixing the stamps are just about discernable in this photo. Both levels have what look like steps in the face of the wall, they're not, I believe these were simply to ...

2 buddles. The lump in the middle of the one on the left is the metal foot of the central pillar that would have stood in the buddle, an armature shaft from a dynamo is in the right buddle.
The concrete floor is about 5 feet above the buddles and had jigging tables on it and is set with numerous 1/2 inch thick fixing bolts.
The grass just ...

Launder Bank

Hooten Wheals (Hexworthy Mine), Two Bridges, Southern Dartmoor, Dartmoor & Teign Valley District, Devon, England, UK

A leat cuts around the hillside to the left of this bank and would have then run along the top in a raised launder to feed the waterwheel. The wheel was about the same distance from the end of this bank as the bank is long.

Hooten Wheals (Hexworthy Mine), Two Bridges, Southern Dartmoor, Dartmoor & Teign Valley District, Devon, England, UK

The bob pit seen in one of the other photos is just on the left of this. There is a section of timber and the rocks in the depression mark the shaft head.
