Cave in Rock cave

Cave-in-Rock, Cave-in-Rock Sub-District, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA

Diamond drill core dump

The Allied Chemical Company dumped their entire core library in about 1986 at the Victory mine's mill site. Many thousands of cores are visible, most from the Illinois - Kentucky fluorspar district, with some from fluorite areas in Colorado. Victory mine dump

Alan Goldstein climbs the mountainous dump of the Victory mine looking for specimens. While yard rocks are numerous, mineral specimens larger than thumbnails are few and far between.
