Flat formation of interconnected cubic apophyllite crystals. The apophyllite is gray with greenish zones and the crystals have modified edge faces on the prism sides. No damage. Ex. Reasenberg collection 1429. Overall size of mineral specimen: 45x35x15 mm. Size of individual crystals: 8-10 mm.

Large rosette of slightly pink to white apophyllite crystals up to 25 mm on green prehnite. The apophyllite crystals are lustrous and partially translucent. No damage. Overall size of mineral specimen: 6x6x5 cm. Size of individual crystals: 1-2.5 cm.

Dimensions: 9.3 cm x 5.6 cm x 3.5 cm

A 9.3 x 5.6 x 3.5 cm matrix of pale green crystallized prehnite. Set nicely upon this is a 4.2 x 3.8 cm cluster of colorless semi-lustrous tabular slightly translucent apophyllite-(KF) crystals. There are other lesser crystals scattered throughout the prehnite. Very slight contacting is present off the left side of the main cluster, away from the matrix and center of the piece. Outside of this, damage-free. This is of excellent quality for one of these old Virginia classics. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. Ref: The Mineralogical Record: 3,4: 173-179.

Cluster of pale-pink tabular apophyllite crystals up to 5 cm on edge. One side of the specimen is partially coated with white clay that can be removed with careful cleaning. Ex. Richard Gaines collection (co-author of Dana's 8th edition). Overall size of mineral specimen: 6x6x3 cm. Size of individual crystals: 2-5 cm.

Apophyllite crystals growing on apophyllite. Specimen from the collection of the Smithsonian Institute 1973. Scale at bottom of image is an inch with a rule at one cm. This is by all accounts the best apophyllite ever found at Centreville and a lot better than the second best one. This is a world class specimen.

A 13.5 x 5.4 x 3.2 cm matrix, the top and back covered by green crystallized prehnite. Scattered richly throughout are sparkling colorless translucent to transparent pseudo-cubic crystals of apophyllite-(KOH) to 0.85 cm. Ex Steve Pullman collection.
