The big pegmatite

Sagåsen Quarry (Sagasen Quarry; Strandåsen Quarry; Saga 3 Quarry), Sagåsen (Strandåsen), Mørje, Porsgrunn, Telemark, Norway

Section on the floor of the quarry where the wire saw have cut through the large pegmatite. A small stream of water made the photo look a little blury, but also showed how nice the pegmatite looks. FOV is about 1m x 0,75m. Taken 10. May 2008.

The famous pegmatite in 2005

In the lower middle of the foto is the huge pegmatite, nearly horizontal. Foto was taken in 2005, shortly after the end of the great days, the return of which we are longing for!

Sagåsen 27. October 2007. Most interesting part of the quarry when picture was taken is the level beneath the drill-rigs. the large pegmatite that occured in 2003 can be seen near the bottom of the level under that again.
