Empty Streets

Panorama

Scorched Earth

Centralia, Columbia Co., Pennsylvania, USA

Looking north across scorched earth at the shade trees and empty streets that are the remnants of razed neighborhoods. A modern city hall building is visible in the distance, still open. A few stalwarts have refused to leave and try to prop up the pretense of a modern town.
