Spodumene crystals in pegmatite core |

A cluster of very large spodumene crystals exposed underground in the core zone of the pegmatite. Spodumene has largely been altered to montmorillonite but gemmy fragments of unaltered spodumene are abundant in some portions of the core. Photo taken December 1997. |
