H3E-VEQPyrosmalite Group
Gabbro Quarry, Radau valley, Bad Harzburg, Goslar District, Lower Saxony, GermanyField of View: 50 cm
Vein of pink pyrosmalite-group mineral in boulder of contactmetamorphic rock. Vein is about 40 cm long, 1 cm wide. Photo taken 7 April 2012. The powder XRD pattern is closer to schallerite than to pyrosmalite-(Mn), but SEM-EDS does not show the presence of As. SEM-EDX shows Mn, Si, Cl, O. This is likely an As-free, schallerite-like polytype of pyrosmalite-(Mn).
