Chimney Rock Quarry, Bridgewater Township, Somerset County, New Jersey, USAA view of the quarry wall south of the rock crushing area. You can see the different shades on the wall including the red parts that the quarry is known for. This area is off limits to everyone including workers. Its sad because the material from this part of the quarry is rich with minerals and would be a collectors dream to look through. I personaly have looked through some of the material that was removed from here and dumped in another area and have found boulders with quartz and amethyst cavities the size of soft balls with fantastic samples in them. I cant agree more with the quarry owners decision to keep the area off limits. The slightest rainfall, bad weather, or movement around this area causes rock to come tumbling down unexpected in large amounts and would be bad news for anyone hanging around this area "I have seen this happen personally".. Not only is it off limits but they built a wall with material around it to keep people away and they also dug a large pits and flooded them with water anywhere that there was an access point. Making it almost impossible to access. Beautiful scenery is all your gonna get if you are even allowed through the main gate.
