HL3-V01Corundum (Var: Star Corundum) : Al2O3

Multiple photos available
Umba River, Tanga Region, Tanzania

Dimensions: 38 mm x 33 mm x 19 mm

Large crystal for Umba Sapphire. Although it looks chipped and rounded, it is a complete crystal, with only minor alluvial damage. The stone looks silvery on the picture due to the included Rutile "silk". The crystal is actually quite gemmy and when backlit shows a strong color change of light blue-green in daylight to a peach-brownisch in incandescent light.
Size 38 x 33 x 19 mm. Photographed at the mine the day after it was found on august 23, 2010.
