Mammoth-Saint Anthony Mine (Mammoth-St Anthony Mine; Mammoth Mine; St. Anthony Mine), St. Anthony deposit, Tiger, Mammoth District, Pinal Co., Arizona, USA
Cyan-blue acicular crystals of Munakataite on blue crystals of Boleite with colorless to pale blue crystals of Leadhillite. The identification of the Munakataite was made on the basis of semi-quantitative WDS analysis for sulfur, and EDS analysis, both performed in late 2008. An earlier identification of this same material as Mammothite has been ...

Maxwell Quarry, Wakefield area, Hull Township, Gatineau Co., Québec, Canada
7.5 x 6 x 4 cm. Geikielite is a rare magnesium titanium oxide, found usually in microcrystals or masses. It is the magnesium analogue of Ilmenite. Here we have a huge mass of geikielite about 3 inches in size with distinct big crystals over 1 cm in size embedded within it. It shows metallic lustre and some sharp twinning. This has been confirmed ...

Uvite, Tait Farm, 6 x 4.6 x 3.4 cm. The large uvite crystal is 2.2 cm. Personally collected in May, 2001. The uvites from this locality look a lot like schorl, although they are brown in thin slivers. There are some small quartz crystals on this specimen.

The Apatite crystal measures 3.5cm x 1cm and is in a matrix of course grained calcite. The photo was taken on 31 August, 2008. This specimen comes from an old abandoned phosphate mine in South-eastern Ontario, Canada and was last worked in the 1870's. Yellow and greyish Apatite crystals though not as common, are occationally found at this site.

The same under more bright lighting. Crystals of marine-green and ink-blue Moissanite extracted by me from heavy concentrates separated from rocks of quartz vein #699 on Puiva Mt. This vein is mined for ultra-pure quartz. For half-year of investigation and viewing more than 200 point probes (150-500 g) I met about 7-8 such crystals. Associating ...

Philippe M. Belley's Blog
A blog is a series of personal articles recorded in date-order somewhat like diary entries. You can use your blog to keep track of your collecting adventures, your purchases, your thoughts and ideas, anything that you think other mindat.org members would be interested to read about. Other members can leave comments after your blog entry, but you can delete any comments you find inappropriate.
Philippe M. Belley's Articles
Articles are pages created by you to share with other mindat.org users. These may be serious (a formal scientific article) or personal (you could write an article about your collecting adventures, or about your artistic creations). You can work on your articles in private until you are ready to publish them. The best articles will be promoted throughout the site.
Unlike Blog Entries, you can continue to edit your articles if they have been published (should you find new information, for example).
