Field collector of minerals for over 45 years, specializing in pegmatites and miarolitic granites. B.S. Geological engineering, Montana Tech 1983; M.S. Metallurgical engineering, Montana Tech 1996. Owner of Asterism Services in Butte, Montana, where I have resided for the past 30 years (except for 3 years in Missoula). Currently operating the Glittering Hill claim south of Butte, a very vuggy pegmatite that has yet to be developed, at one time though it had thousands of loose quartz crystals in the float below the massive quartz outcrop. Specializing in field-collected minerals from the Boulder batholith of Montana, the Sawtooth and Crags batholith of Idaho, plus several other locations throughout western Montana and central Idaho. Also a collector of Butte copper mine minerals & Black Pine Mine minerals; thumbnails from everywhere. I also have an interest in systematic collection, having assembled a modest version of various species, mainly for educational purposes and also for reference when customers come into my store looking for identity help; I have a small collection of gold and silver minerals, plus on display in the shop I have a nice selection of various ores and industrial minerals, acquired over many years as a result of field geology work and collecting.
