Largest Crystal Size: 13 mm

Perfect fluorite crystal with didactic ghost growth (zonation).
It is also possible to see, in the negative crystals enclosed
in the fluorite cube, little gas bubbles of about 0.2 mm in diameter.

Unidentified efflorescence on polished section

Unidentified, arborescent efflorescence of a (Cu,Ag)-sulphide (bright) that has formed on a polished section of a sphalerite sample, close to some cerussite.

This specimen from the University Museum, Tokyo, Japan, is a part of type sakuraiite.

Reflected plane polarized light digital image from transparency taken in oil immersion illustrating sakuraiite (grey with slightly green tint) compositionally zoned and intergrown with petrukite (greenish grey) with sphalerite (dark grey), chalcopyrite (yellow) and galena (off-white) from the Ikuno Mine, Japan. Compare with Figure 4 of Kissin and Owens (1989) in Canadian Mineralogist 27: 673-688.

Characteristic reflectance data (and X-ray + microprobe) were obtained on this grain by C J Stanley & M Shimizu in 1990 and published in the Quantitative Data File for Ore Minerals 3rd edition (1993)
