I come from Lower Austria, Austria and I'am collecting minerals since my time at the primary school. Why? I don't know, may be "Morbus Mineralis";)
My favourites are Calcite, Wulfenite, Lower Austria, Bleiberg, Hüttenberg, alpine clefts, the area of the ex K & K Monarchy of Austria and crystallography. I have a library about minerals, mines, crystallography, etc. with more of 300 books (too much I think).

Glück Auf!

6C8-QQLAnkerite-Dolomite Series, Pyrite : FeS2

Mitterberg District, St Johann im Pongau, Salzburg, Austria

Dimensions: 9.3 cm x 8.4 cm x 5 cm

According to Paar, W. (1983) such white rhombohedral crystals should named as Fe-yielding dolomite or as ferroan dolomite ( with 25 % formula units of CaFe(CO3)2) and not as ankerite. Ankerite seems very rare at this locality and visual identification is not possible.

This is my first test of the high resolution shot mode available on the Olympus OM-D EM5 Mark II.
The original picture was more than 40MP large but with the ratio 3:2 used for cropping, it is now 35MP (7296x4264).
Enjoy zooming on it !
