Welcome to my Mindat Home Page,

I am an Austrian collector of minerals and fossils. I live near Graz in Styria. I was born in 1966, I have been collecting minerals since my childhood.

I have not yet developed a specific "method" for collecting minerals. However, I do prefer self collected specimen. For me collecting minerals is a favourite hobby and adventure. I haven't got any favourite mineral, I like all of them.

YV6-E9LForsterite : Mg2SiO4

Lake Ellen Kimberlite Prospect, Lake Ellen, Iron Co., Michigan, USA

Dimensions: 3.0 cm

This little container of forsterite (var. peridot) was acquired through a trade many years ago. The individual specimens are quite small, the largest being approx. 2.5 mm across. The kimberlite was known to contain many of these peridots and garnets; however, very few diamonds were ever found here.
