I am mining engineer specialized in mineral processing and live in Germany.
In "sideline" I am amateur mineralogist and collector. In 1975 I started together with my father collecting minerals with a focus on the minerals from our home, the Eifel area.
The specimens in our collection differ in size from thumbnail to large cabinet, but I prefer small cabinet sizes the most.
Meanwhile a precise determination of the minerals in our collection and the discovery of new species for the Eifel area as well as new species in general becomes more and more interesting and during the years much more than 1000 have been probed and analyzed. Providing the material for the definition of the species Willhendersonite, Bellbergite, Oxyphlogopite, Schäferite, Christofschäferite-(Ce), Laachite, Eleonorite, Ferrorhodonite, Fluorbritholite-(La), Vondechenite, Nöggerathite-(Ce), Alfredcasparite and Amableite is the result of this work.
For a field collector the Eifel Mountains are still a paradise. From time to time I make trips to the Canary Islands, the Azores or the Middle Italian volcanos, always looking for volcanic minerals.
I like to exchange minerals.
