Lepidolite with Cleavlandite, Elbaite, and Quartz
As recorded:
Stewart Mine, Pala District, San Diego County, California, USA
132mm x 112mm x 68mm
This showy Stewart Mine specimen has the vibrant, lustrous lavender Lepidolite this mine is famous for, all nested in thick glassy blades of Cleavlandite with a distinct bluish color in daylight. The Lepidolite books are distinct and range up to 10 mm across. Pale pink to hot pink Elbaite crystals provide nice contrasts. Many small Quartz crystals are mixed in, and an opaque pink cluster of Montmorillonite-included Quartz cap the specimen. Collected in 2002 by Blue Sheppard, owner of the Steart Mine. Only peripheral damage as expected on such a large piece.
