Pyrite (striated cubes)

Specimen ID: F7D-UC9

Title
Pyrite (striated cubes)
Locality
As recorded:
Huanzala Mine, Huallanca district, Dos de Mayo Province, Huanuco Department, Peru
Dimensions
118mm x 92mm
Description
An fine, unusual and well balanced older piece from what has become a very famous mine for great pyrites. This form is not like the material that Huanzala has produced for the past decade, this has sharp slightly modified cubes showing pronounced striations. There are many great forms that Huanzala has produced and some fine suites have been developed to showcase them. This would be a fine addition to such a suite, or for any collection of good esthetic minerals. The cubes are sizable, the largest 6.5 CM. Minimal damage, the main crystals are very clean, there is some chipping and periferal damage on the rear and lower areas, despite that it is still very esthetic and presentable.
