Specimen ID: HG0-LW0

Fluorite, Galena
As recorded:
Rogerley Mine, Frosterly, Weardale, England
200mm x 95mm x 50mm
From a locality famous for its highly fluorescent Fluorite I am pleased to offer for your enjoyment a very fine specimen of this beautiful material. It is a very colorful group of sharply terminated GEMMY Fluorite cubes almost completely covering a very large matrix. The cubes all have a rich green color and are extremely GEMMY, with the added bonus of exhibiting several complex penetration twins. Of course this Fluorite exhibits a very lively purplish fluorescence under both longwave and shortwave UV light. It also exhibits a property called DAYLIGHT FLUORESCENCE, where the edges of the cubes acquire a BLUE TINT in the presence of normal daylight - this happens even in the shade, as seen below. Some damaged crystals as pictured.
