“A peculiar variety of muscovite known only from the Gillette Quarry in Haddam Neck, Connecticut is known as schernikite. The crystals have a kind of ribbed columnar rim of tan mica with a lilac core. This 3.4 x 3.1 x 2.4 cm specimen is actually two such crystals...one is oriented vertically and the other at right angles. One of the nicest specimens of schernikite I have ever seen. ”
